Numicon PD

Last week AJ and I went to Huirangi School for PD around using Numicon. The school is four years down the track using Numicon and have seen good results.

I went and observed year levels 0-6 and I was impressed with the way the tamariki were engaged. For my level, it allayed some concerns around having Numicon shapes being used in class - particularly in the play aspect.

Some of their teachers have done up some awesome learning/teaching slides - that was impressive. They weren't too keen to share - and I kind of get it, but also we are that profession and I think we should be sharing resources. I would pay -  I tell you! So since the activity cards for Numicon are jam packed with ideas that are overwhelming, I have decided to start my own slides and Cheryl and I can use them for lessons. The slides will become my maths planning. These slides are very much in their infancy so what you will see is a work in progress.

We are yet to have PD, that is next term. In the interim we have been busy sorting through the Numicon equipment.
